Welcome to Decor AI, a product of Crafted Bits ("we", "us", or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and safeguard your information when you use the Decor AI mobile application ("App"). By using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and agree to the practices described herein.

2. Information We Collect

When you use the App, we collect the following information:

  • Photos: Room images you submit for AI redesign. These are uploaded to our servers for processing and stored in your personal gallery until you choose to delete them.
  • Device Identifier: A randomly generated anonymous identifier created on first launch and stored securely on your device. This is used to associate your designs and manage daily usage limits. It is not linked to your personal identity, and we do not collect your device's hardware or advertising identifiers.
  • Design Preferences: The room type, design style, colour palette, and budget tier you select for each design generation.
  • Usage Counts: The number of designs generated per day and saved designs, used to enforce plan limits.
  • Subscription Status: If you subscribe to Decor AI Pro, we receive confirmation of your subscription status, plan type, and expiry date from our subscription management provider. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details.

We do not collect:

  • Your name, email address, phone number, or physical address
  • Your location or GPS data
  • Advertising identifiers
  • Analytics or behavioural tracking data

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely to:

  • Generate AI-powered room redesigns from your submitted photos
  • Store and display your designs in your in-app gallery
  • Manage free daily design limits and Pro subscription entitlements
  • Maintain the operation and security of the App
  • Improve the quality and features of the App
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations

4. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) of South Africa, relying on the following lawful grounds:

  • Contractual necessity: Processing your photos and device identifier is necessary to provide the design service you requested.
  • Legitimate interests: Maintaining security, preventing abuse, and improving the App, where these interests do not override your rights.
  • Legal obligation: Retaining records where required by applicable South African law.

5. Photo Storage & Retention

Your original room photos and AI-generated designs are stored on our servers and remain available in your in-app gallery until you delete them. When you delete a design within the App, both the original photo and the generated result are permanently removed from our servers.

During the design generation process, your photo is temporarily shared with our AI model provider via a secure, time-limited link that expires after a short period. The AI provider processes the image to generate your redesign and does not retain your photo.

We do not use your photos to train AI models. Your device identifier and usage data are retained for as long as your device continues to use the App. You may request deletion of all data associated with your device by contacting us.

6. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share your data only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service Providers: We use trusted third-party providers for cloud hosting, AI image processing, subscription management, and payment processing (via Apple). Each provider is bound by their own privacy and security obligations and receives only the data necessary to perform their function.
  • Legal Requirements: Where required by law, court order, or a competent authority.
  • Business Transfer: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of our business, your data may be transferred to the acquiring entity, who will be bound by this Privacy Policy.
  • Protection of Rights: Where necessary to protect the safety, rights, or property of Crafted Bits, our users, or others.

7. International Data Transfers

Our servers and third-party service providers may be located outside South Africa, including in the United States. By using the App, you acknowledge and consent to the transfer and processing of your data in these jurisdictions. We take reasonable steps to ensure that your data is handled securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

8. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including:

  • Your device identifier is stored in encrypted platform-level secure storage on your device
  • All data transmitted between the App and our servers is encrypted
  • Server-side access to your data is restricted and scoped to your device identifier
  • Photos shared with our AI provider use time-limited secure links

No system is completely secure. In the unlikely event of a data breach that poses a risk to your rights, we will notify affected users and relevant authorities as required by law.

9. Your Rights

Under POPIA and applicable law, you have the right to:

  • Request access to the data we hold that is associated with your device
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of all data associated with your device
  • Object to processing of your data

You can delete individual designs at any time within the App. To request a full deletion of all data associated with your device, contact us at decorai@craftedbits.co. We will respond within 30 days.

10. Children's Privacy

Decor AI is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has submitted data through the App, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
